Model History and Information: The Cat G3616 is a large-bore gas engine in Caterpillar's G3600 series, built to drive compressors at gas-gathering, processing, transmission and storage sites; Caterpillar rates the G3616 from 3,531 to 3,762 bkW (4,735 to 5,045 bhp) at 1,000 rpm, with a displacement of 339.18 liters, and lists it as NSPS site-compliant capable for emissions. Its lean-burn combustion runs with excess air to reduce combustion temperature and NOx output while improving fuel consumption and component life over a rich-burn design.
