Model History and Information: The Cat 420E IT is a center-pivot backhoe loader built for trenching, backfilling, truck loading, and general construction work. It combines a front loader with a rear backhoe on one chassis and is powered by a Cat C4.4 ACERT direct-injection turbocharged diesel engine rated at 93 hp (69 kW) net, with 301 lb-ft of torque at 1,400 rpm. The IT designation refers to its Integrated Toolcarrier loader linkage, which gives higher breakout forces and parallel lift for efficient loading and material handling compared with a single-tilt loader, and accepts a broad range of Cat work tools through a single-lever proportional control with an auxiliary thumb roller.
