Model History and Information: The Cat 745 is a three-axle articulated dump truck engineered to haul material across rough, soft, or steep ground where rigid trucks lose traction. Power comes from a Cat C18 ACERT engine rated at 511 hp (381 kW) gross and 504 hp (376 kW) net, moving a rated payload of 45.2 tons (41 tonnes) in a 32.7 cubic yard (25 cubic meter) heaped body. Articulated steering and all-wheel drive give the truck maneuverability on uneven haul roads, and its cab features a combined hoist/transmission lever, Advanced Productivity Electronic Control Strategy, and Automatic Retarder Control to reduce operator workload. The 745 is common in construction, quarrying, and site-development work moving earth and aggregate.
