Model History and Information: The Cat® 980K is a full-size wheel loader built for high-production loading of trucks and hoppers in aggregates and quarrying. The K-series update to the 980 preceded the current-generation model while keeping the same size class and role in Caterpillar's wheel loader range, above the mid-size 966 and below the larger 988. A Rock Configuration adds ground-engaging tools and guarding built for loading blasted rock and abrasive aggregate rather than general dirt and gravel handling, protecting the underbody and cylinders from sharper material. This 1:50 scale replica represents that Rock Configuration version of the 980K.
